Recently, I got myself an electric scooter. The reason for getting it is quite simple: I wanted something to use after arriving at a destination while traveling.
After all, it’s summer! As someone from southern Taiwan, in an era where parking spaces are increasingly hard to find,
having an option to avoid walking to my destination after parking is a must. Don’t you agree?
So, I got this locally produced Taiwanese electric scooter to accompany me on my travels.
Waymax X7 Pro
Let’s first take a look at its basic specifications.
Maximum speed: Low gear 10 km/hr, Medium gear 20 km/hr, High gear 25 km/hr
Full battery range: Pro-mini 30 km, Pro 35 km
Body net weight: 15 kg
Motor specifications: Front wheel drive 350W
Tire size: 8.5-inch explosion-proof honeycomb tire
Expanded size: 104*47*115 cm
Folded size: 104*47*46 cm
This model is further divided into two variants based on battery capacity.
I chose the Waymax X7 Pro, which has a battery capacity of up to 10Ah.
After all, a tool like this should ideally go as far and as long as possible, so going for the maximum capacity was a no-brainer.
The all-metal design gives it a very sturdy structure.
The deck has a non-slip mat with the Waymax logo printed on it.
Even if your shoes are wet, you won’t slip off, ensuring basic safety during use.
The control panel is very simple and easy to read.
All function switches are controlled by pressing the power button.
Long press for two seconds: Power on/off
Short press once: Switch maximum speed mode
Short press twice: Headlight on/off
Short press four times: Cruise control
There are three speed modes, indicated by different colored lights with varying maximum speeds.
Default on startup is white light (up to 10 km/hr), yellow light (up to 20 km/hr), and red light (up to 25 km/hr).
The throttle is a press-plate type.
For safer riding,
this scooter is equipped with a hand brake, turn signals, and a small warning bell.
The turn signals are located on the handlebars and the chassis edge.
For nighttime riding safety, it also has a headlight and a rear taillight (which doubles as a brake light).
This is super practical for someone like me who often goes out at night.
My usage is super simple: I fold it up and toss it in the trunk to take along.
After parking at a destination, I take it out and ride to my final stop.
Since getting this scooter, I’ve been frequently zipping through Tainan’s narrow alleys where even motorcycles need to be careful when passing.
Sometimes, I park in a free corner in Anping and ride around from there.
I’ve also driven it along the Golden Coast, enjoying the evening breeze to unwind.
This electric scooter is an extension of my mobile lifestyle.
Its smaller size compared to a bicycle makes it easy to toss into my trunk.
With a full charge, it can travel about 35 km, which is enough for quick commutes within a 15 km radius.
Because of this, it makes me more willing to travel somewhere in this scorching heat and follow my desired itinerary.
Every driver should keep one in their trunk—it’s a great way to expand your parking options.
Lastly, some of you might be wondering: Is this thing safe?
At the default starting speed of 10 km/hr, it’s about the pace of an adult jogging.
Since it’s not too high off the ground, you don’t need to worry about slipping—just step off to land safely.
In my opinion, it’s much safer than a bicycle. Something for everyone to consider!
That’s it! For those who want to join me on scooter adventures, check this out!
