To be completely honest before we start—I didn't buy this mouse for gaming.

After about a year of daily use, the right-click button on my primary work mouse started becoming unresponsive.

Although Logitech's warranty service can be miraculously good at times, I decided not to waste time dealing with it and figured getting a brand new mouse to try out made more sense.

So I went ahead and bought this mouse that advertises an ultralight build and microswitches rated for 100 million clicks:

COUGAR Revenger Pro 8K Gaming Mouse

This is the flagship model in COUGAR's gaming mouse lineup.

It currently comes in three color options, and I picked Iron Gray.

As a veteran geek who spends long hours holding a mouse every single day, I personally found this color to be the most practical and versatile.

(I placed it on the carpet to snap some photos... but I didn't expect to see so much of my own shed hair. Oops! QQ)

It supports tri-mode connectivity.

This is super convenient for me, as I can connect and use a single mouse across three different computers.

Just a quick heads-up: if you connect via Bluetooth, it will NOT support the 8K polling rate!

Speaking of polling rate, maybe I should do a quick educational recap on what mouse polling rate actually means.

The gaming mice we use report their position and button states to the computer several times per second to ensure smooth tracking and click responsiveness.

Standard everyday mice usually report at 1,000 times per second (1,000Hz).

Some gaming mice on the market can reach 4,000 times per second (4K polling rate).

The one I bought today, when meeting the required connection conditions, can go all the way up to 8,000 times per second (8K polling rate).

This shortens the transmission interval from 1ms down to 0.125ms, which theoretically reduces tiny input lags.

When rapidly turning your view (like in FPS games), the cursor trajectory points become much denser, resulting in higher precision.

Now let's take a closer look at the mouse itself.

It features a classic symmetrical shape.

It fits comfortably whether you are left-handed or right-handed.

The large main left and right buttons offer crisp tactile feedback without being overly noisy.

The manufacturer claims they are rated for 100 million clicks, so this one should hopefully be more durable than my previous mouse.

What caught my attention more was the scroll wheel.

It's made of plastic material with a subtle, tactile notched feel—very comfortable for my taste.

Most of my mice tend to fail at the scroll wheel first, but COUGAR seems to have picked good components here.

Plus, many people told me it holds up well over time, so I'm giving it a shot!

The default page up/down side buttons are located on the left side of the mouse.

Which means—if you must press those two buttons using your thumb, it is effectively a right-handed mouse.

I really like the curvature design on the back of the mouse.

With my grip style, it rests very snugly in my hand.

The highest point sits about 0.5 cm forward from where my fingers meet my palm.

People who prefer a full palm grip will likely enjoy this shape.

Some users prefer a claw or fingertip grip.

For those users, weight matters a lot.

This mouse weighs around 85g in total.

If you use it in 2.4G wireless mode, the mouse itself weighs only 57 grams.

That is remarkably light—and unlike some brands that over-engineer lightweight designs by riddling the shell with dust-collecting honeycomb holes, this one stays fully solid.

Of course, everyone grips their mouse differently.

Some people need a extra-grippy texture.

In that case, you can apply the anti-slip grip tape provided by COUGAR onto the mouse body.

On top of that, this mouse is very power-efficient.

In its most power-saving state (excluding wired mode, of course), it offers up to 290 hours of battery life.

Here is what the bottom of the mouse looks like.

COUGAR thoughtfully applied a PTFE skate around the optical sensor lens as well.

To help keep your mouse gliding smoothly over long-term use, the factory includes an extra replacement set of mouse skates in the box.

Based on my past experience, if you ever need more replacement sets down the road, you should be able to contact COUGAR directly to purchase them.

Physical toggle switches for connection modes and DPI adjustments are conveniently placed on the bottom.

The labels are very clear, so I don't think they need much explanation.

The USB receiver for 2.4G wireless mode is stored right here.

Generally speaking, I don't need to use it very often unless the device I want to connect to wirelessly lacks Bluetooth support.

Just another reminder: if you want to run the 8K polling rate in wireless mode, you MUST use this USB dongle!

Another option, of course, is using a wired connection.

Recharging the mouse or running it in wired mode is handled via the front USB-C port.

If you just want to charge it, any standard USB-C cable will do.

However, if you want to use it in wired mode, remember to switch the mouse to OFF first and make sure to use the original included cable.

Not only does the stock cable guarantee full 8K polling rate performance, but the connector angle is specifically designed so it won't interfere with mouse movements.

You can also perform programmable key bindings and customizations using COUGAR's dedicated UIX software tool.

You can click here to download it

You can customize button assignments through this software.

Or tweak your DPI settings and more.

Like I mentioned earlier—I'm not using it for gaming, so I just kept everything on default.

All in all:

From unboxing to finishing this review, I've used this mouse for over 300 hours.

It offers great ergonomics, accurate tracking in OS navigation, and high overall satisfaction.

If you're looking to swap out your current mouse, give it a look.

Priced at NT$2,290—it's reasonably priced. Give it a shot!
